The 12ha project is located on the site of a former industrial train terminus on the edge of the city centre of Prague. The mixed use development of retail, residential and hotel created a framework to allow a new quarter for the previously neglected city centre site. The generous public realm and park acted as a green heart for the development, with public and private roof top landscape terraces and cafe pavilions interacting with the shopping mall beneath. The surrounding streetscape and urban plazas were coordinated with the new tram network, to create a pedestrian priority and human scale to the public realm, enlivened with fountains and water features. Historic industrial artefacts, railway lines and old carriages were innovatively reused to provide a unique character and sense of place to the new quarter.
