ReardonSmith Landscape were appointed independently by 1MDB to review previous concept masterplanning for the 14ha Central Business District to develop and create a public realm masterplan with KPF Architects. The landscape masterplan seeks to create a legible landscape within a clear hierarchy of public realm space, to provide flexibility and choice for the pedestrian, allowing direct routes or exploration, differing character and a variety of amenity offers. The landscape elements within the public realm will further enrich the user experience, assisting way-finding, creating landmark links and embracing the latest innovative technology, media and i-tree technology.
Streets, squares, gardens and parks will be connected within the site-wide water story - a framework of water features to delight and orientate – creating an individual address for each character area. Mature street tree planting will provide shade and shelter across the site, and assist in creating a smaller human scale to the majority of areas within the CBD.
